New year, new events!

Happy new year! We hope you are all well and had a successful year despite its challenges.

We are very excited to announce two new events (with a third in the works... no spoilers)! As we try to diversify our events to benefit our students as well as other fellow electrochemistry researchers around the world, we would like to introduce our newest upcoming events.

The first event, on January 28th, is our very first Mini-Career Fair featuring four Canadian companies all specialising in electrochemistry - Calogy Solutions, GBatteries, Hydrogenics, and SUEZ. After each giving a brief presentation, you will get to network with the presenter and ask questions in a Q&A session. Given the continued challenges the coronavirus presents in terms of outdoor meetings, we have decided to get a career fair right to your home! Visit our upcoming events page to get more information about the companies and the event.

The next event is a very interesting workshop that one may not realise one needs. We would like to introduce Felice Frankel, a science photographer and research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and an internationally recognized expert in scientific graphics, visualisation, photography, and communication of scientific results to the public. Felice will be conducting a workshop on February 25th where she will explain useful techniques to make great scientific figures and posters. Not only that, you can also get involved in the event by submitting a figure or poster (even just a draft) for which you can get direct feedback from Felice herself. The spots for participation are limited and all participants get a free copy of Felice's book titled "Picturing Science and Engineering"!

Information about both events are on our upcoming events page. As always, feel free to email us at uwecs@uwaterloo.ca if you have any inquiries, comments, or suggestions. We love hearing from you!

We hope to see you at our upcoming events! Be well and stay safe :)
